Camp Carpe Diem 2015

Camp Carpe Diem is the first overnight camp of its kind in Atlantic Canada for children and youth living with epilepsy. The camp will be available to youth between the ages of 8-17 who are at a minimum developmental age of 8. Campers aged 15 - 17 can join our Leaders in Training (LIT) program.

Campers take part in awesome activities including canoeing, cooking, drama, fine arts, environmental education, swimming, outdoor recreation and much more!

Where is Camp Carpe Diem?

Camp Carpe Diem takes place at Brigadoon Village, an $8.5 million state-of-the-art summer camp facility located on Aylesford Lake in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia (approximately 1.5 hours from Halifax).

Where do campers sleep?

Each lodge sleeps 24 campers in 4 separate rooms of up to 6 children. All camper lodges also have private staff accommodations and 4 private, accessible washrooms with showers.

Who are your staff?

Brigadoon Village has a camper to staff ratio of 4:1. All of our highly trained staff are over the age of 18 and we also have on-site RNs.

Food sensitivities or special diet? No problem!

Brigadoon Village aims to be inclusive of all campers with dietary restrictions and health concerns. The menu at Camp Carpe Diem is carefully planned by our Executive Chef and a pediatric dietitian from the IWK.

The IWK Neurology team will work with Brigadoon to determine camper eligibility based on the goals of the camp, safety, and supervision required.
